Our Beginning (2004) History of ITSM Academy

What started as a passion for IT Service Management and education became a mission: to build a trusted, independent training organization that would serve as a catalyst for professional growth. In 2004, ITSM Academy was founded with a clear purpose - to create engaging, practical training that equips IT professionals to succeed.

Building Momentum (2005–2010)

  • Developed all available ITIL training in-house, including Service Manager.
  • Expanded the portfolio to include emerging practices alongside ITIL.
  • Incorporated tools and resources like the Learner Portal and Personal Action Plans to extend learning beyond the classroom.
  • Introduced Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE) certification course.

  • Stood up the ITSM Professor blog as a positive place to share knowledge and insights - it still is going strong today!
  • Grew a vibrant learning community, fostering peer networking and professional connections.

Growing & Innovating (2011–2020)

  • Introduced GAME ON! simulations, immersive experiences that make learning real and fun.
  • Co-founded the DevOps Institute while launching ITSM Academy’s DevOps Campus, becoming the first global elite partner of DOI.
  • Added Agile, DevOps, and SRE programs to help professionals adapt to new ways of working.
  • Enhanced virtual learning options long before “remote training” became the norm.
  • Strengthened our global reach, serving learners from a wide range of industries and geographies.

Today & Beyond (2021–Present)

  • In addition to all ITIL courses, we continue to lead with fresh courses in Experience Management, Value Stream Management, AI, and other modern practices.
  • Co-founded the Open Service Community, where peers share knowledge and insights.
